What this map measures

MapifyStats Elo is a calculated model, not the official FIFA ranking or eloratings.net series. Start at 1500, use a logistic expectation with divisor 400, add a 100-point home advantage at non-neutral venues, and use K=40 for World Cup finals, 20 for friendlies, 30 for other games. Draws score 0.5; shootouts remain draws.

Annual snapshots start in 1900 after training on results from 1872. Teams need five career source matches and a match in the preceding five calendar years to receive a rank. The 2026 snapshot ends August 26, not December 31. Identities follow Mart Jürisoo’s successor-team naming; historic borders are not reconstructed.
