U.S. County Map Maker from CSV

County names and FIPS codes

Use current five-digit FIPS identifiers such as 01001. Four-digit codes are padded with one leading zero; three-digit county-only codes are rejected. For names, choose a separate state column and use a state name or postal abbreviation. Independent cities and Connecticut planning regions retain their current county-equivalent identifiers.

Choose your geography and numeric columns in the import review. Blank values remain unavailable. Duplicate or unmatched rows are listed for review; the first valid row for each county is retained. The map uses equal-interval classes. Diverging schemes center symmetric breaks on zero. A state zoom changes the view while retaining the data's class breaks.

The 2024 Census cartographic geometry is generalized at 1:5,000,000 and coordinates are rounded for display. It is suitable for national and state reports; it is not a legal boundary or parcel map. Preserve leading zeros when exporting to spreadsheets.

Prepare and export

CSV and TSV imports are limited to 2 MB and 5,000 rows. Quoted numeric values may contain thousands separators. Review the import, correct issues or explicitly accept the matched subset, and confirm the map. Personal data is never sent to a map service or included in analytics.

SVG preserves editable vector shapes, titles and legends. PNG uses double the SVG dimensions. The matched CSV keeps unavailable values blank. Settings JSON records colors, breaks and labels; it excludes the original pasted spreadsheet.
