Kirby Cove is the most popular campground in the Marin Headlands, with spectacular views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate. Enjoy a wooded setting, seclusion and protected campsites which were recently restored for all to enjoy. Campsites are available for use only by prior reservation but anyone can walk down the road to enjoy the vistas and picnic on the bluffs or beach. Campground is open March-November. $40.00/per campsite per night.

Reservations can be made up to six months before your arrival and may extend up to two days beyond this 6-month booking window. Each overnight site permits a maximum of 10 people. The Day Use Site permits a maximum of 35 people. You can reserve directly from this page via a partnership with recreation.gov by clicking the green 'reserve' button. A recreation.gov account is required to make a reservation. Reservations for an overnight site are $40/night. For a group site, it is $75/night. There is no water at the campground. Bring your own water, soap, and hand sanitizer.

Campfires are only permitted in provided fire rings. Gas stoves are permitted. Firewood must be brought from outside the park. Gathering on site is not allowed. Fire Danger: During Extreme Fire Danger Red Flag Days and "Spare the Air" Days, all fires will be banned. Only self-contained gas stoves will be permitted at designated campgrounds and picnic areas. We will email fire danger information (if applicable on the date of your reservation) to the email address you provide to recreation.gov upon making your reservation.

Source: National Park Service API for sites, facilities, campground locations and published fee entries; NPS Public Use Statistics for monthly recreation visits, 1979–2025. Snapshot retrieved 2026-10-03. 474 NPS site records include 62 national-park API records; Sequoia and Kings Canyon share one API record. These record counts are not the official count of individually designated parks. 392 API site records have matched visitation history, including the separately reported Sequoia and Kings Canyon visit totals combined for their shared API record. 665 campgrounds are included.

Complete monthly series reconcile with the source’s annual totals. Published annual totals remain available for years with partial monthly reporting. Four monthly entries contain negative accounting corrections. They remain in the archived data and annual totals, and are unavailable as ordinary monthly visit counts. Blank data is not zero. Recreation visits are visits, not unique people. Month as percent of annual peak = selected month visits ÷ largest monthly count that year × 100, requiring twelve nonnegative monthly values. This helps compare recorded seasonality; it is not a crowding forecast, reservation forecast, or present-condition report.

Activities and amenities reflect published NPS entries, rather than a guarantee of access on a particular day. Fees and pass categories are dated 2026-10-03; official site and reservation links provide current conditions and rules. Campground points are published NPS coordinates. Offshore sites can be viewed on the world extent. Broader public-land agencies are outside this reviewed NPS snapshot.
