Not taking reservations in 2026 due to past winter storm damage. When open, individual site reservations can be made up to one month in advance. Group sites are available up to four months in advance. All sites are reservation only. Ten miles (16 km) from the Giant Forest, this campground rests under open stands of evergreen trees at an elevation of 6,800 feet (2,073 m). This centrally located campground is ideal for those exploring both parks. The trail to the Muir Grove of giant sequoias begins here.

$32 · This fee is valid for up to six people at a single tent or RV site per night.
Access or Senior Pass Tent or RV Sites
$16 · This fee covers up to six people at a single campsite per night. for facilities and services such as camping, swimming, boat launch, and specialized interpretive services. This does not apply to group campsites.
Group Sites A & B
$60 · These group sites accommodate from 12 to 25 people. The fee is charged per night.
Group Site D
$70 · This group site accommodates from 12-50 people. The fee is charged per night.

Accessibility and facilities

The campground is fully paved, and relatively flat and level. The path to the amphitheater is very steep and would be difficult to reach by wheelchair.
fire Stove Policy
In summer, fire restrictions may be in effect if conditions are dry, even at higher-elevation campgrounds. When fire danger is very high, wood and charcoal fires (including campfires in fire rings and wood-burning stoves) may be prohibited. Check current fire restrictions online or at park bulletin boards before you camp.

Dorst Creek Campground has sites for RVs and trailers of nearly any length, including pull-through sites. When making reservations, you can filter available sites by entering the length of your RV. A dump station is available at the campground. Generators are allowed from 8 to 11 am and from 5 to 8 pm.

Snapshot retrieved 2026-10-03. 474 NPS site records include 62 national-park API records; Sequoia and Kings Canyon share one API record. These record counts are not the official count of individually designated parks. 392 API site records have matched visitation history, including the separately reported Sequoia and Kings Canyon visit totals combined for their shared API record. 665 campgrounds are included.

Complete monthly series reconcile with the source’s annual totals. Published annual totals remain available for years with partial monthly reporting. Four monthly entries contain negative accounting corrections. They remain in the archived data and annual totals, and are unavailable as ordinary monthly visit counts. Blank data is not zero. Recreation visits are visits, not unique people. Month as percent of annual peak = selected month visits ÷ largest monthly count that year × 100, requiring twelve nonnegative monthly values. This helps compare recorded seasonality; it is not a crowding forecast, reservation forecast, or present-condition report.

Activities and amenities reflect published NPS entries, rather than a guarantee of access on a particular day. Fees and pass categories are dated 2026-10-03; official site and reservation links provide current conditions and rules. Campground points are published NPS coordinates. Offshore sites can be viewed on the world extent. Broader public-land agencies are outside this reviewed NPS snapshot.
