The campground is open year-round but has seasonal restrictions during the winter. May through October: Reservations can be made up to four months in advance. All sites are reservation only. November through April: The campground reduces to only one loop with 20 sites. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Azalea campground is centrally located in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. This campground is at an elevation of 6,500 feet.

From November until May, Azaela Campground has 20 sites open on a first-come, first-served basis. When sites are first-come, first-served, payment is done through the Recreation.gov mobile app. Please download the app before coming to the park (www.recreation.gov/mobile-app). Cellular service is very limited. As long as the app is installed prior to arrival, payment will work even when a device does not have internet connection. For those same 20 sites, reservations for the summer begin in early January and can be made up to four months in advance of your stay. 90 additional sites open about two weeks later.

Camping Fee for Tent and RV Sites

Senior/Access Camping Fee-Tent and RVs
$16 · Fee is valid for up to six people at a campsite. Valid with America the Beautiful Senior or Access passes. During winter, from November 1, 2023, to May 7, 2024, only 20 sites are available and all are first-come, first-served. The length of RV or trailer that can be accommodated varies by site. Site 93 can accommodate RVs up to 47 feet in length. The campground has no hookups or dump stations. The nearest dump stations (summer only) are located at Dorst Creek Campground (when open) in Sequoia National Park, or Princess Campground (Hwy 180 at Hume Lake junction) in Sequoia National Forest. Generators are allowed between 9 am to 9 pm.

These record counts are not the official count of individually designated parks. 392 API site records have matched visitation history, including the separately reported Sequoia and Kings Canyon visit totals combined for their shared API record. 665 campgrounds are included.

Complete monthly series reconcile with the source’s annual totals. Published annual totals remain available for years with partial monthly reporting. Four monthly entries contain negative accounting corrections. They remain in the archived data and annual totals, and are unavailable as ordinary monthly visit counts. Blank data is not zero. Recreation visits are visits, not unique people. Month as percent of annual peak = selected month visits ÷ largest monthly count that year × 100, requiring twelve nonnegative monthly values. This helps compare recorded seasonality; it is not a crowding forecast, reservation forecast, or present-condition report.

Activities and amenities reflect published NPS entries, rather than a guarantee of access on a particular day. Fees and pass categories are dated 2026-10-03; official site and reservation links provide current conditions and rules. Campground points are published NPS coordinates. Offshore sites can be viewed on the world extent. Broader public-land agencies are outside this reviewed NPS snapshot.
