Mather Campground is located in Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. There are 327 sites. Only dry camping is currently permitted due to Stage 4 water restrictions. Spigot access and bathroom faucets are turned off. No fires are currently allowed on the South Rim and inner canyon areas. Fire restrictions prohibit all wood burning and charcoal fires. No hookups are available, however there is a free dump station. Most RV spaces are pull-through.

From March 1, through November 30 (Peak Season) most campsites are by reservation only through recreation.gov. Mather campground offers 15 first-come, first-served sites that go on sale at 8 am. None of Mather Campground's sites have hook-ups or electricity. Full hook-ups are available at adjacent Trailer Village RV Campground, operated by Delaware North.

Family Site
$30 · Family campsites range from accommodating a small tent, to 30 foot motor homes and fifth wheels. Family sites are limited to 6 people, three tents and two vehicles per site. There are no hookups available at any of the sites. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring with a cooking grill.
Family Site with Senior or Access Pass/ Golden Age/ Golden Access
$15 · Family campsites range from accommodating a small tent, to 30 foot motor homes and fifth wheels. Family sites are limited to 6 people, three tents and two vehicles per site. There are no hookups available at any of the sites. Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring with a cooking grill.
Group Site
$50 · Group sites can accommodate 7-50 people and tents per site. 3 vehicles per site. RV and bus parking is prohibited.
Communal Hiker Biker Sites
$6 · Hiker/biker are for people on foot or bicycle only. These are non-reservable communal hiker/biker sites (available on a first-come, first-served basis only) and hold up to one person, one tent and no vehicles. If you have more than a one person hiking party you will need to make more than one reservation.

Restrooms have paved ramps to bathroom entrances. Each restroom has an ADA compliant stall.

The closest free Public WiFi is at the general store (Canyon Village Market) and in the lobby of Yavapai Lodge. Both are located in Market Plaza, 0.4 mile (.64 km) from the Mather Campground entrance.

Cellular coverage varies throughout Grand Canyon Village because of the terrain. You may or may not be able to receive a signal in Mather Campground. Usually connectivity is better in the village historic district, 1.3 miles (2 km) west of the campground.

Fires are currently prohibited due to Stage 2 Fire Restrictions. No fires are allowed on the South Rim and inner canyon areas. Fire restrictions prohibit all wood burning and charcoal fires, including campfires, warming fires, and charcoal barbeques.

Dry camping only at this time. Spigot access at campgrounds on the South Rim are turned off, though faucets in bathrooms will remain operational. Do not scatter wastewater. Pets: Must be kept on a leash and under physical control at all times. For the safety of your pet, do not leave them unattended. Pets are not permitted below the rim, on shuttle buses, or in buildings.

Source: National Park Service API for sites, facilities, campground locations and published fee entries; NPS Public Use Statistics for monthly recreation visits, 1979–2025. Snapshot retrieved 2026-10-03. 474 NPS site records include 62 national-park API records; Sequoia and Kings Canyon share one API record. These record counts are not the official count of individually designated parks. 392 API site records have matched visitation history, including the separately reported Sequoia and Kings Canyon visit totals combined for their shared API record. 665 campgrounds are included.

Complete monthly series reconcile with the source’s annual totals. Published annual totals remain available for years with partial monthly reporting. Four monthly entries contain negative accounting corrections. They remain in the archived data and annual totals, and are unavailable as ordinary monthly visit counts. Blank data is not zero. Recreation visits are visits, not unique people. Month as percent of annual peak = selected month visits ÷ largest monthly count that year × 100, requiring twelve nonnegative monthly values. This helps compare recorded seasonality; it is not a crowding forecast, reservation forecast, or present-condition report.

Activities and amenities reflect published NPS entries, rather than a guarantee of access on a particular day. Fees and pass categories are dated 2026-10-03; official site and reservation links provide current conditions and rules. Campground points are published NPS coordinates.
