Seawall Campground is located on the west side of Mount Desert Island about 4 miles (6 km) south of Southwest Harbor. The campground is approximately 18 miles from Bar Harbor. All sites at Seawall are within a short walking distance of the coastline.
Ninety percent of campsites are released six months in advance on the first of each month at 10 am EST. The remaining 10 percent are released at 10 am 14 days ahead of a desired arrival date on a rolling basis. All campsite reservations must be made in advance at Recreation.gov. Reservations cannot be made through the campground office or in-person.

- Do not bring firewood from more than 50 miles away. Help protect our forests from the spread of hidden, tree-killing insects by obtaining firewood from local vendors near the campground. Grills and fire rings are available for use at campsites. Campfires are only allowed in designated fire rings.

- Maximum vehicle length is due to the tight turning radius of the A-Loop road and the difficulty of staying on the pavement when entering and exiting the back-in campsites. If you bring equipment exceeding the maximum limit, you may be turned away upon arrival. Please help us protect the vegetation around the campsites by respecting the maximum limits.

- This campground has the following accessible sites: 3 RV, 35-foot (10.7 m) maximum; 5 drive-in; 5 walk-in; and one group site. Use the paved road for access to the amphitheater. If staying in the group camping area, use the accessible restroom in the C loop, which is reached by a long, hard-packed ramp.

Source: National Park Service API for sites, facilities, campground locations and published fee entries; NPS Public Use Statistics for monthly recreation visits, 1979–2025. Snapshot retrieved 2026-10-03. 474 NPS site records include 62 national-park API records; Sequoia and Kings Canyon share one API record. These record counts are not the official count of individually designated parks. 392 API site records have matched visitation history, including the separately reported Sequoia and Kings Canyon visit totals combined for their shared API record. 665 campgrounds are included.
Complete monthly series reconcile with the source’s annual totals. Published annual totals remain available for years with partial monthly reporting. Four monthly entries contain negative accounting corrections. They remain in the archived data and annual totals, and are unavailable as ordinary monthly visit counts. Blank data is not zero. Recreation visits are visits, not unique people. Month as percent of annual peak = selected month visits ÷ largest monthly count that year × 100, requiring twelve nonnegative monthly values. This helps compare recorded seasonality; it is not a crowding forecast, reservation forecast, or present-condition report.
Activities and amenities reflect published NPS entries, rather than a guarantee of access on a particular day. Fees and pass categories are dated 2026-10-03; official site and reservation links provide current conditions and rules. Campground points are published NPS coordinates. Offshore sites can be viewed on the world extent. Broader public-land agencies are outside this reviewed NPS snapshot.
