Lava Point Campground is open as weather allows, typically from May through September. Situated at 7890 feet above sea level, the campground can be reached via the Kolob Terrace Road, 25 miles (45 minutes) north of the Virgin. It takes approximately 80 minutes to drive to the campground from the South Entrance of Zion Canyon. Six (6) primitive campsites are available for reservation. The campground has pit toilets and trash cans, but no running water. Vehicles longer than 19 feet are not permitted.
Lava Point Campground is open as weather allows, typically May through September. Reservations are required and can be made up to 14 days in advance. First-come, first-served sites are not available. Be sure to make reservations before beginning your trip - cell service is limited in the park.

- Cell service is generally not reliable within the campground. Signal may occasionally be available depending on your carrier.
- fire Stove Policy
- Seasonal fire restrictions are common - check with a ranger or camp host for current fire restrictions. Fires are only permitted in the furnished grates at each site. Only common fuel sources (such as firewood or charcoal) may be used. No burning of trash or manufactured/synthetic materials is allowed. Fires should never be left unattended and must be fully extinguished before leaving. Wood gathering is prohibited within the park. Purchase wood in nearby communities. Gas or liquid-fueled stoves and lanterns are allowed, but they should only be lit on bare ground away from vegetation. Lanterns may not be hung from trees. Complete monthly series reconcile with the source’s annual totals. Published annual totals remain available for years with partial monthly reporting. Four monthly entries contain negative accounting corrections. They remain in the archived data and annual totals, and are unavailable as ordinary monthly visit counts. Blank data is not zero. Recreation visits are visits, not unique people. Month as percent of annual peak = selected month visits ÷ largest monthly count that year × 100, requiring twelve nonnegative monthly values. This helps compare recorded seasonality; it is not a crowding forecast, reservation forecast, or present-condition report.
