The rustic D.H. Day Campground is located in the northern district of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, on the lower peninsula of Michigan. This beautifully wooded campground is one of the most popular in northern Michigan, with easy access to the Dune Climb, the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive, and museums and the historic village of Glen Haven. and is located only 2 miles from the restaurants and shops of beautiful downtown Glen Arbor.
Reservations are required from May 15 through October 15. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance of your arrival date, online at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. Both the phone bank and the website open at 10 a.m. Although reservable dates often fill months in advance, there are frequent cancellations and date changes that result in openings closer to or on the date of arrival. Same-day reservations, as available, can be booked: In person with the park staff at the campground ranger station (credit or debit card only) Online at www.recreation.gov By phone 1-877-444-6777. The following pass holders are eligible for ½ off the camping fee* (for campsites occupied by the cardholder only) Golden Age Pass Golden Access Pass Interagency Access Pass Interagency Senior Annual Pass Interagency Senior Lifetime Pass. *To receive this discount, passes must be entered when making a campsite reservation and cannot be applied upon arrival to the campground.

- D.H. Day Campground has one accessible campsite, on packed soil, with a vault toilet adjacent. Water spigots supply water throughout the campground but are not at each site. An RV dump station is located at the entrance to the campground.

Source: National Park Service API for sites, facilities, campground locations and published fee entries; NPS Public Use Statistics for monthly recreation visits, 1979–2025. Snapshot retrieved 2026-10-03. 474 NPS site records include 62 national-park API records; Sequoia and Kings Canyon share one API record. These record counts are not the official count of individually designated parks. 392 API site records have matched visitation history, including the separately reported Sequoia and Kings Canyon visit totals combined for their shared API record. 665 campgrounds are included.
Complete monthly series reconcile with the source’s annual totals. Published annual totals remain available for years with partial monthly reporting. Four monthly entries contain negative accounting corrections. They remain in the archived data and annual totals, and are unavailable as ordinary monthly visit counts. Blank data is not zero. Recreation visits are visits, not unique people. Month as percent of annual peak = selected month visits ÷ largest monthly count that year × 100, requiring twelve nonnegative monthly values. This helps compare recorded seasonality; it is not a crowding forecast, reservation forecast, or present-condition report.
Activities and amenities reflect published NPS entries, rather than a guarantee of access on a particular day. Fees and pass categories are dated 2026-10-03; official site and reservation links provide current conditions and rules. Campground points are published NPS coordinates.
