Designated primitive camping areas that are accessible by vehicle and sometimes by vessel as well. First-come first served, no reservations. No designated sites. No potable water. When pit toilets are unavailable, campers must bring portable toilets for use and proper disposal into the sewer system. Quiet hours 10pm-6am. $12 per night. The nearby Hite area is currently closed to the public.

Farley Canyon Primitive Camping Fees
$12 · Farley Canyon is a vast primitive camping area adjacent to Lake Powell, but not currently accessible to the lake by vehicle. The entrance road has an "iron ranger" style fee collection for cash. If you wish to pay by card, use the link below. There are no designated sites and no amenities. Pack out wheat you bring in. Camping is $12 per night.

Campfires are allowed in NPS-provided receptacles (fire rings and grills) and along Lake Powell's shoreline below the historic high-water level (3,700 feet), except within developed areas. Do not leave trash in fire rings. Fireworks are illegal. Any temporary fire restrictions will supersede these regulations.

We do not recommend driving RVs to Farley Canyon. None of the primitive camping areas have hookups or pumpouts.

Bring everything you need with you, pack everything you used out. The nearest town with supplies is Hanksville Utah, about 53 miles away. If you are camping more than 200 yards away from an established toilet, you must bring and use an approved portable toilet system.

All primitive lakeshore camping areas are patches of sand next to a body of water. It is not paved or graded. There are no facilities, docks, or supplies.

Source: National Park Service API for sites, facilities, campground locations and published fee entries; NPS Public Use Statistics for monthly recreation visits, 1979–2025. Snapshot retrieved 2026-10-03. 474 NPS site records include 62 national-park API records; Sequoia and Kings Canyon share one API record. These record counts are not the official count of individually designated parks. 392 API site records have matched visitation history, including the separately reported Sequoia and Kings Canyon visit totals combined for their shared API record. 665 campgrounds are included.

Complete monthly series reconcile with the source’s annual totals. Published annual totals remain available for years with partial monthly reporting. Four monthly entries contain negative accounting corrections. They remain in the archived data and annual totals, and are unavailable as ordinary monthly visit counts. Blank data is not zero. Recreation visits are visits, not unique people. Month as percent of annual peak = selected month visits ÷ largest monthly count that year × 100, requiring twelve nonnegative monthly values. This helps compare recorded seasonality; it is not a crowding forecast, reservation forecast, or present-condition report.

Activities and amenities reflect published NPS entries, rather than a guarantee of access on a particular day. Fees and pass categories are dated 2026-10-03; official site and reservation links provide current conditions and rules. Campground points are published NPS coordinates. Offshore sites can be viewed on the world extent. Broader public-land agencies are outside this reviewed NPS snapshot.
