Situated along the Green River at the base of towering cliffs, the Echo Park Campground provides a unique camping experience in Dinosaur National Monument. Steamboat Rock dominates the view. Fremont petroglyphs are located on the canyon walls. Bighorn sheep and mule deer frequently roam through the campground. Unimproved hiking trails lead to the confluence of the Green and Yampa Rivers or to views of the Mitten Park Fault. The campground is located 38 miles (61 km) north of the Canyon Visitor Center.

Reservations are only available for the Group Campsite at the Echo Park Campground. All other sites are first-come, first-served. Reservations for the Group Campsite can be made below, or by calling Recreation.gov at 1-877-444-6777. Group sites can be reserved no more than 12 months in advance. The latest you can make a reservation is 24-hours in advance.

Accessibility and facilities

Wheelchair access is limited at the campground. Roads and parking areas are gravel. While the area is flat, wheelchair users may need assistance. The vault toilet is accessible to wheelchair users.

fire Stove Policy
Campfires must be built inside the fire grates provided. Seasonal fire restrictions could be in effect. Check the information kiosk at the campground or ask a ranger about potential fire restrictions. To prevent the spread of invasive species, use local firewood. Collecting wood from the ground or breaking it off trees/plants is prohibited. Don’t burn trash, metal, plastic, or other materials other than wood. Never leave fires unattended. Ensure fire is completely out and cold to the touch before leaving.

Source: National Park Service API for sites, facilities, campground locations and published fee entries; NPS Public Use Statistics for monthly recreation visits, 1979–2025. Snapshot retrieved 2026-10-03. 474 NPS site records include 62 national-park API records; Sequoia and Kings Canyon share one API record. These record counts are not the official count of individually designated parks. 392 API site records have matched visitation history, including the separately reported Sequoia and Kings Canyon visit totals combined for their shared API record. 665 campgrounds are included.

Complete monthly series reconcile with the source’s annual totals. Published annual totals remain available for years with partial monthly reporting. Four monthly entries contain negative accounting corrections. They remain in the archived data and annual totals, and are unavailable as ordinary monthly visit counts. Blank data is not zero. Recreation visits are visits, not unique people. Month as percent of annual peak = selected month visits ÷ largest monthly count that year × 100, requiring twelve nonnegative monthly values. This helps compare recorded seasonality; it is not a crowding forecast, reservation forecast, or present-condition report.

Activities and amenities reflect published NPS entries, rather than a guarantee of access on a particular day. Fees and pass categories are dated 2026-10-03; official site and reservation links provide current conditions and rules. Campground points are published NPS coordinates. Offshore sites can be viewed on the world extent. Broader public-land agencies are outside this reviewed NPS snapshot.
